In 2023, I took part in The Homo Faber Fellowship, along with master artisan Sasha Sykes.

The Fellowship gave an artist like me the opportunity to work in a studio alongside a master artist and learn with them, developing a co-created object using the knowledge gained during my time there. Under Sasha’s guidance and with the support of The Michelangelo Foundation, I designed and created this piece here, Sleeping Garden.

Sleeping Garden is a functional headboard and artwork representing the circular nature of life, constantly evolving and transforming.

Made from a bio-based resin with submerged locally foraged plant materials and copper wire sculptures, and an intricate straw marquetry center, it’s function is to create a dreamlike world that brings elements of nature into an interior space, improving connection to nature and enhancing your sleep. The sculptures of animalistic and humanoid figures in the object give a reminder that we share our planet with other life.

Our Co-created object was presented at London Craft Week in May 2024 and presented for selection for Homo Faber 2024 in September 2024
